California Air Resources Board
Led by a Governing Board of 11 members appointed by the Governor of California, the ARB is a nationally recognized air pollution control agency. Established in 1967 under the umbrella of the California Environmental Protection Agency, the Board’s primary job is to provide safe, clean air for all Californians by reducing emissions from motor vehicles, fuels, consumer products, and sources of toxic air contaminants to the state mandated level. The Board also oversees local air pollution agencies, and is the lead agency for implementing California’s landmark global warming bill. The goal: to reduce the state’s greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent. To know more, visit arb.ca.gov.
